UCLA CONFERENCE

Hello Team,

I just wanna let you guys know that the conference at UCLA was a success. I got a lot of information that will be of great help to our AB540 Students. Around 600 people, including parents, attended the conference.

The purpose of this conference was to educate and provide resources in hope of creating action surrounding the passage of the DREAM Act. Through the series of workshop provided, students encountered valuable information that will help further their education and help others along the way.

I graduated 4 years ago from Dinuba High and I am so happy cuz my teachers still remember me.  I really want to thank Mr. Gomez for inviting me to this conference. The majority of the students who attended were High School students but there were around 40 Community College Students and I think I was the only one from State. lol well besides the students from UCLA. Never mind that's UC. lol  It is amazing to see the courage those people have.  There is not a difference between the legal and the illegal, both of us are looking to achieve the same goal. ALLL WE WANT IS TO GET AN EDUCATION.  Of course we struggle the most but WE ARE NOT JUST EXISTING, WE ARE SURVIVORS AND NEVER GIVE UP.

They asked the question, "How is to be an undocumented student?" In my personal opinion, there was nothing good about it. Why? Financial issues, etc, etc, etc. However, after hearing their speech I realized that it is true, "WE ARE NOT JUST EXISTING, WE ARE SURVIVORS AND NEVER GIVE UP" I didn't know anyone who is undocumented and is attending an UC 'till this conference. I am very proud of them.

I gonna create a PowerPoint presentation with all the information and updates that way you guys can share it with your ab540 mentees or for yoursel if you belong to this category.

Bueno ya no los aburro mas... Enjoy your summer vacations...
