Hello Team,

Congratulations! Good job guys. I had a wonderful weekend.

One of my students did not want to go. When i called him, he said "I don't feel like knowing new people". I tried to motivate him but he said "NO". Then his dad told me to go to his house and talk to him again. The next day i went and after our conversation at least i got  "I am gonna think about it"! Well he attended the camp and guess what? When i was reading the comments students wrote on my paper. He wrote down "Thank you for changing my mind about the camp" I really feel proud of myself and I know we all are doing a great job. I called his dad today to thank him and he is very excited about this program. 

By the way do not forget to call the parents to tell them Thank you.

I just want to share with you guys that Paco and I will be going to Mendota today to check on the progress of SSB. I am also really exicted because i talked to some of the parents of my junior high students. They were really nice and told me that they were happy we are doing this to help them, and some parents told me that they will definetly encourage their kids to go to the up-coming Leadership Academy!!!! I am extremely happy for that...

2009 Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation is once again conducting a nation-wide search for the best and the brightest Hispanic/Latino leaders.
The Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards offers educational grants of $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000 in several categories to qualified Hispanic/Latino high school seniors. Students are also eligible to receive free laptops and a free trip to Washington, DC to attend the Hispanic Heritage Awards ceremony!
The application is now available online at www.HispanicHeritage.org
POSTMARK DATE MARCH 14TH, 2009
Requirements for applicants:
* Graduating high school seniors
* Attending college in the fall of 2009
* Of Hispanic/Latino descent
* U.S. citizen or permanent resident
* 3.00 minimum GPA
