HELLO ALL. TODAY, I HAD THE GREAT FORTUNE OF VISITING A SCHOOL FOR THE FIRST TIME. IRLANDA INVITED ME TO ROOSEVELT HIGH SCHOOL. MY ALMA MATER. IT WAS LIKE GOING FULL CIRCLE. I GRADUATED FROM ROOSEVELT IN 1991. I GET CHOKED UP TO THINK THAT YOU (MENTORS) ARE THERE TO HELP OUR STUDENTS. I RECALL NOT KNOWING MUCH ABOUT COLLEGE WHEN I WAS 17. I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT SAT'S A THROUG G'S, FAPSA, GRANTS, ENTRY EXAMS, STORIES AOBUT COLLEGE LIFE, ETC... I KNOW THAT IF I HAD ONE OF YOU TO HELP ME AT THOSE TIMES, MY FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH EASIER. I AM NOT ANGRY, BUT TOUCHED THAT YOU ARE THERE SHARING SO MUCH OF YOUR SELVES & YOUR EXPERIENCES. YOUR KNOWLDGE & LEADERSHIP WILL ENSURE THAT OUR STUDENTS FIRST YEARS OF COLLELGE WILL BE SO RICH & FULFILLING. YOU ARE REDIFINING EXPECATIONS THAT THEY MAY USE SOMEDAY AS THEY TOO REACH BACK.
TODAY, I SAW THAT WHAT WE ARE DOING IS REACHING BACK...
THANK YOU, ALFREDO PONCE
